Welcome to the blog for Trisa's Piano Studio! This is a post to introduce why I enjoy the piano so much and what my goals for teaching piano are.
Why I Love the Piano
Learning the piano has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my lifetime. Though at first the music itself may not seem exciting and we want to just immediately become concert pianists, eventually the rewards start to show themselves. For example, music is an excellent source of expression--choose a song that matches your mood and have at it! (So therapeutic). I have found that my knowledge of the piano makes me more appreciative of the skills of other people--whether I am at church, or listening to the radio, I always notice piano parts! It is a skill that improves a little when you use it, and that is rewarding. It is something that my siblings enjoy also and one of my favorite piano playing experiences was learning a duet with my sister! Ultimately being able to play the piano has made my life more rich.
My Goals
As a pianist I want to teach about the piano and music. As a graduated ELED major I want to apply that training to engage students in their learning. As myself I want to spread my love of the instrument, and help others find an outlet and an appreciation for music.
To meet those goals:
- I will create a safe environment for the student.
- I will find activities and incentives to encourage students to actively participate in their learning.
- I will give monthly communication about what is going on in my studio for that month so that parents can be aware and involved as well.
- I will keep up my own practice and learning
As an additional note, this blog will be my monthly newsletter. On the side are links do documents that relate to my scheduling and policies. At the bottom are some of my favorite songs to play. Eventually I may add a list of links to activities or sites that are useful to your children as they learn!
